All F1 departure times will be delayed

24 hours after setting the Twittersphere ablaze with the announcement of the end of grid girls, Liberty Media announced a new change in the organization of the Grand Prix.

Thus, starting from the first round of the championship in Melbourne, the start will not be at a fixed time, as it has been for decades, but at 4:10 PM (local time). This schedule will be shared by all the events. The reason given is that many broadcasters around the world only go on air at fixed times, causing them to miss the grid formation phase.

But the change will be even more significant for all European races and Brazil, as the start will be delayed by one hour and 10 minutes instead of just ten minutes. The reason given this time is that the previous schedule of 2 p.m. was not the most convenient to attract viewers to their television sets. With this new schedule, the goal is to increase the audience in the Old Continent, which remains the main provider of viewership worldwide.

For its return to F1, France will have a unique schedule as the start will be at 4:10 PM. This time, Liberty Media has decided not to clash with the FIFA World Cup. Therefore, the race will start right after the final whistle of the England-Panama match.
