Yusuke Hasegawa leaves Honda F1
In order to turn a new page in its F1 history with Toro Rosso, Honda has decided to overhaul its organization. Yusuke Hasegawa will therefore leave his position while Toyoharu Tanabe becomes the technical director of the engine manufacturer in the discipline.
In Singapore, when it was announced that Honda would now power Toro Rosso instead of McLaren, Yusuke Hasegawa was not present at the press conference. This did not bode well for his future in the discipline.
It is now official since the engine manufacturer has announced a reorganization that will lead to a change in the functioning of the F1 program. While Hasagawa-san led the entire project, whether it was research and development in Japan or operational management at the races.
This will no longer be the case as Honda has decided to create a technical director position, assigned to Toyoharu Tanabe. He will focus on engine operations during races and tests. Another person in charge will exclusively handle R&D in Sakura.
Yusuke Hasegawa will not be leaving Honda. He will now be the chief engineer on one of the models in the manufacturer’s consumer range.
