Carlos Sainz delivers his best race in Singapore
By finishing 4th in a 2-hour long race, Carlos Sainz achieved his best performance since his debut in Formula 1. Being too aggressive on a track still wet at the beginning of the race, his teammate Daniil Kvyat ended his Grand Prix in the Techpro barriers.
Despite an average qualifying session that still saw him reach Q3, Carlos Sainz emerged unscathed from the collision at the start to immediately climb into the top five positions in the race.
Sainz achieves his best result in F1
After a solid and error-free Grand Prix, it is in 4th place that the Spaniard will cross the finish line, marking his best result in Formula 1 after about fifty races: “Wow, what a day and what a result!” exclaimed the Toro Rosso driver as he emerged from his car. “After a weekend with so much media attention, it’s great to have been able to put everything in order and finish 4th, it’s just amazing,” he continues.

The strategy of the Spaniard has therefore paid off: Starting on Intermediates, then switching to the Super Softs, with which I had some difficulties in the first laps, and taking them to the end without losing position is just a brilliant way to finish a complicated weekend. It’s truly a race I will always remember. The most challenging moments of my race were the start and my first laps on Super Softs. I had booked my flight to leave tonight but I had to cancel it, we really need to celebrate this! confirms a amused Sainz.
Another zero score for Kvyat
A disappointment not shared on the other side of the garage by Daniil Kvyat, whose race ended in the Techpro barriers on the 11th lap: « It’s really a shame, I made a mistake and missed a good opportunity to score points. I had managed to overtake Magnussen, but my brakes locked up on the next straight and I went straight into the wall,” the Russian briefly stated.
