Singapore: The FIA does not designate any culprit in the start-line collision
The FIA determined that none of the three drivers involved in the collision at the start of the Singapore Grand Prix were guilty of any action that could warrant a penalty.
The start of the Singapore Grand Prix was very eventful due to the collision between the two Ferraris of Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Räikkönen and Max Verstappen’s Red Bull.
Furthermore, he admitted that Vettel’s reaction at the start was not the most appropriate: « [Sebastian] started squeezing me, maybe he didn’t see Kimi on his left. He has no excuse. When you’re fighting for the championship title, you shouldn’t take that kind of risk. It wasn’t very smart. » An opinion obviously shared and defended by his own father on social media!

On his side, the Ferrari driver had trouble sharing. However, after reviewing the video footage and hearing the main parties involved, the FIA decided not to proceed with its investigation and not to penalize any of the three drivers: « The driver of car number 7 made a very good start and found himself in a position to overtake car number 33 on the left. At the same time, car number 5, which had a slower start, moved to the left of the track; car 33 and car 7 collided, creating a chain reaction with car 5 and eventually with car number 14 at the next corner. The stewards consider that no driver was wholly or predominantly responsible for the incident and will take no further action, stated the body in a statement. The incident is therefore closed.
