Daniil Kvyat has lost confidence in his car

In the championship standings, Daniil Kvyat pales in comparison to Carlos Sainz with 29 points for the Spaniard and only 4 for the Russian. The trend is unlikely to improve tomorrow, after qualifying sessions that once again clearly favored the son of the rally world champion.

According to Danill Kvyat, this explains that the behavior of his car deteriorated significantly during this session, even though he was quite satisfied with it until now: « It’s frustrating. During the qualifying session, we lost all the balance of the car and therefore the confidence I had in the car until now. It was the worst of the weekend: I felt like I had no grip and my rear tires were sliding a lot. It’s very disappointing. »

The contrast couldn’t be greater with the comments from Carlos Sainz, delighted to be back in Q3, which hadn’t happened since Monaco: « It was a good qualifying session. Before the weekend started, we knew this track would be challenging for us, but we found very good settings in FP3 and I had full confidence in the car. From the start of the session, we were competitive, and 10th place is a good position to start tomorrow’s race. »

The driver of car 55 even believes he could have done better since his first lap was done on worn tires: « It’s just a shame to have had the yellow flags at the end of Q3. I couldn’t set a time on new tires. My Q3 lap was completed on worn tires and we are only a tenth behind the Force India and Grosjean. »

The battle for the last points promises to be intense during tomorrow’s race, especially if the weather decides to play a part.
