Sauber makes Monisha Kaltenborn’s departure official
A new chapter has begun at Sauber: the team has announced the departure of Monisha Kalteborn, who has been with the team for 17 years.
Yesterday’s day was abuzz with rumors of Monisha Kaltenborn’s departure. However, the official reaction from the team was delayed simply because the team’s communication officers were traveling to Baku.
If an initial statement was released to reiterate the perfect equality of treatment between the team’s two drivers, a second statement was needed to officially announce the departure of the CEO and team principal.
Thus, Pascal Picci, the representative of Longbow Finance as chairman of the board, stated: « Longbow Finance SA regrets to announce that, by mutual consent and due to differences in views on the future of the company, Monisha Kaltenborn is leaving her position within the Sauber group, with immediate effect. »
As the team celebrates its 25th anniversary in F1, it is the first time the team will not be led by Peter Sauber or one of his close associates, as Monisha Kaltenborn was chosen by the Swiss leader. The team owners have not disclosed who her replacement will be, leaving the team without an official leader for this race weekend in Azerbaijan.
