Live coverage of the Monaco Grand Prix
MotorsInside brings you live commentary on the Monaco Grand Prix from 1.45pm, direct from the Principality's paddock.
The battle for the world championship continues this weekend on one of the most legendary tracks in the history of motor racing, and also the most attended of the season. We are, of course, talking about the Monte Carlo circuit for the famous Monaco Grand Prix.
A significant turning point in the championship likely occurred during the qualifying session, as Lewis Hamilton couldn’t do better than the 14th fastest time. The Briton, struggling since the beginning of the weekend, leaves the door open for Sebastian Vettel, who is second on the grid.
The Scuderia driver was outpaced by his teammate, Kimi Räikkönen, who secured his first pole position in nearly nine years! While both drivers stated they were free to fight, will strategy dictate that the German eventually overtakes the Finn?
Bottas, third by only two thousandths of a second, will be lurking and trying to limit the damage for the Silver Arrows.
Qualified in a nice 9th place, Jenson Button will have to start from the last position due to new technical issues with the Honda engine. The chances of seeing the Briton score points in his only race of the season are therefore quite slim.
Similarly, Esteban Ocon will find it difficult to continue his streak of five consecutive races in the points as he will only start 15th.
