Toro Rosso unveils the STR12

On the eve of the first winter tests, Toro Rosso was the last team to unveil its car, logically named STR12. Initially scheduled for 4:30 PM, the team finally waited until 6 PM to launch, while Red Bull and Haas had conducted their own launches earlier in the day.

Like McLaren, Toro Rosso has decided to significantly change the colors of its car, with a bull that takes on a silver dominance while the blue is much less dark than in the past. From an architectural standpoint, it can be noted that Toro Rosso has also chosen to adopt the shark fin at the rear.

For this year of regulatory changes, Toro Rosso has opted for stability by retaining its driver duo from the end of last season, namely Carlos Sainz and Daniil Kvyat. The two drivers will take turns at the wheel, with the Spaniard getting the first drive.

It should be noted that the Faenza team wanted to conduct a first shakedown last week during its day dedicated to filming promotional videos. However, this day was shortened due to an ERS problem with the Renault engine, which prevented the team from reaching the 100 km allowed by the FIA. Let’s hope for the team’s sake that their engine manufacturer has been able to identify and fix this issue promptly, in order not to lose valuable track time.
