Williams’ valuation has jumped by 35 million euros since December 1

Williams was the first F1 team to join the financial markets, with a listing that began on March 2, 2011. At that time, the team’s valuation was 265 million euros.

But since then, the stock price has experienced more lows than highs, with a historic low reached on August 22, 2011, at 12.50 euros, while the stock had been launched at 24 euros only five months earlier. After a resurgence in 2013, the stock began a long decline to reach a bottom level of 12.85 euros on September 12 last year.

Nevertheless, a reverse and sudden movement started on Monday, December 5. Indeed, on Friday, December 2, Williams’ stock was still at 13.52 euros, but immediately after the weekend, it made an initial jump to 14.13 euros, an increase of 5% in a single session.

However, this date is not random because December 2 corresponds to the announcement of Nico Rosberg’s retirement. Investors seem to have quickly bet on a possible departure of Valtteri Bottas, which could only result in a significant contribution to Williams’ budget due to the existing contract between the two parties.

The increase continued in the following weeks: as rumors pushing the Finn towards Mercedes intensified shortly before Christmas, the stock price experienced another sharp rise, going from 13.97 on December 15 to 15.60 a week later, representing a further increase of 12%.

The movement did not stop there as the stock closed this Friday at 17.09 euros, which corresponds to a 26% increase in the company’s valuation in just two months. With 10 million shares, this gain of 3.57 euros per share translates to an increase in the company’s value of 35 million euros.

Now it remains to be seen what impact Paddy Lowe’s arrival might have, especially if he has managed to acquire shares in the team. The official announcement of his arrival at Grove should take place in the very next few weeks.
