Red Bull to use IBM technology until 2020
Like all the teams on the grid, Red Bull's operations are heavily dependent on its IT infrastructure. The team has therefore just extended its agreement with IBM Spectrum Computing.
Since the end of last year, Red Bull has embarked on a large-scale campaign to extend its technical partnerships. Earlier this year, it announced the extension of its agreement with the American operator AT&T, which provides it with its global telecommunications network.
Today, the agreement with IBM is therefore announced. The two companies have been collaborating for many years as they were partners during the four consecutive world championship titles. Thus, Red Bull uses the solutions offered by the American giant to secure and manage all the data it generates both at its Milton Keynes factory and on circuits around the world.
Therefore, it’s the very functioning of the team that relies on these technologies, as explained by Matt Cadieux, the Chief Information Officer of Red Bull: “We are thrilled to receive the continued support of IBM, which has already greatly helped us in significantly improving our productivity in the usage of our IT resources. Their forecasting and storage tools have become a key element of our workflow and for maximizing our data management.”
For the IT company, this partnership is also a way to showcase its expertise, with its logo appearing on the lower part of the Red Bull single-seaters. It is worth noting that it took this opportunity to highlight a name change for this dedicated subsidiary. Until last year, the name appearing in this spot was Platform Computing, a company acquired by IBM in January 2012. It has now been decided to feature the new dedicated name, IBM Spectrum Computing.
The current agreement thus extends until 2020.
