Mark Smith leaves Sauber
Mark Smith will have remained only a very short time as technical director of Sauber. Eight months after his arrival, the Briton has returned to the United Kingdom.
During the past summer, Sauber achieved a great move by securing the services of Mark Smith, known for his work with various teams. At the time, the Swiss team emphasized how important it was to secure the services of a technical director accustomed to working within a private team.
Nevertheless, the story was short-lived as Mark Smith decided to return to Great Britain for family reasons. He has therefore already ended his collaboration with the Hinwil team.
This departure adds to that of another team director as Giampaolo Dall’Ara, who was the head of engineering, decided this winter to leave F1 and Sauber after 15 years of collaboration. The Swiss team is therefore forced to completely rethink its technical organization chart as the season begins this weekend and its new car was only available for the second winter testing session.
