Daniil Kvyat is on a good trend with Red Bull

His confirmation by Red Bull for next season seems to benefit Daniil Kvyat. The Russian once again delivered a solid performance during the Brazilian Grand Prix qualifying, following a great Grand Prix in Mexico: « I am happy with my work today. We managed to do a clean lap in Q3. It was probably one of my best qualifying laps this year. I had my best race of the year in Mexico and now one of my best qualifications in Brazil. So, I’m quite pleased with how things are going right now. »

The driver knows that the gaps are very tight, and it will be important not to make mistakes to hope to score big points: « The qualification was very close. I think it will be the same in the race. So we are going to try to keep our aggressive approach and overtake those ahead of us. It seems that we have a good race pace, and I was quite happy on the long stints. So I will focus on having a clean and controlled race and try to fight with the cars around us and bring back good points. »

On the other hand, it will be much harder for his teammate to get into the points since he will only start from 19th place, due to his engine change. But the Australian also conceded that he could have done better during his last lap in Q3: “It seems that everyone improved in qualifying and we probably missed one or two tenths to really make a difference.”

He knows that his race will be complicated since overtaking can be somewhat difficult on the Interlagos track. Like in Austin, he might hope for rain to shake up the hierarchy: « I will start 19th and overtaking on this track is a bit difficult. But I think we can try something with the tire degradation. I would like it to rain but I don’t think it’s going to happen. If it rains, it would make everything very exciting. »
