Felipe Nasr offers new points to Sauber
For the fifth time in six races, a Sauber is in the points. This time, it's Felipe Nasr, who managed to bring home the points for 6th place. As for Marcus Ericsson, his race ended at the second corner due to his collision with Nico Hülkenberg.
The misfortune of some once again brings happiness to others. Thus, the collision between Kimi Räikkönen and Valtteri Bottas allowed Felipe Nasr to recover sixth place. He hadn’t done this well since his first F1 Grand Prix in Australia, where he finished fifth.
The Brazilian could therefore only be satisfied with his race, especially during his stint with the ultra-soft tires: « I am very satisfied with my result today. It was an intense race from start to finish. The pace of the car was quite good, especially with the ultra-softs. We were temporarily ahead of other very strong competitors. The balance of the car with the soft tires was not as good as with the ultra-softs. »
Nevertheless, Felipe Nasr is pleased to bring his total points to 25 since the beginning of the season: « Congratulations to the team, these points are for them. They have done an excellent job. There are opportunities you cannot miss and I am proud that we got the maximum today. »
However, his teammate, Marcus Ericsson, was unable to defend his chances due to his collision with Nico Hülkenberg: « As I was starting from the back of the grid, we chose an alternative strategy with soft tires. The start was good as I was able to overtake a few cars before the second corner. I suddenly saw Nico facing the wrong way. There was nothing I could do and I ran into him. It’s very disappointing because the car was quite competitive here. It’s a missed opportunity, which is frustrating for me. »
