Singapore Airlines extends its sponsorship in F1
Title sponsor of its Grand Prix since 2014, Singapore Airlines has just extended its agreement with F1 until 2017.
When the airline arrived in 2014, it succeeded another symbolic brand of the country, SingTel. It was part of the trend of many airlines entering the F1 circle since Emirates is a partner of the FOM, Gulf Air sponsors the Bahrain Grand Prix, while Etihad supports the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
The end date of the new agreement is obviously not coincidental, as it is also the end date of the contract between the City-State and the FOM. Given the popularity of the night race with television audiences and the economic significance for the country, there is a strong possibility that the agreement will naturally be extended in the future.
Goh Choon Phong, the CEO of the airline, stated: « As a strong supporter of sports and tourism, we are excited to continue being the title sponsor of one of the most thrilling races on the F1 calendar. We look forward to promoting the race globally and helping to strengthen Singapore’s image as a world-class tourist, cultural, and sports city. »
