Chinese Calvary for Red Bull

Daniel Ricciardo’s race was compromised right from the moment the red lights went out at the start, as his car switched to safety mode, which left the car stuck on the grid. The Australian tried to make up for this missed start, but traffic prevented him from climbing higher in the standings: « We went into anti-stall at the start, which had never happened before. We need to analyze what happened. It’s frustrating because it dictated the race, and in traffic, we struggled to get through. »

Indeed, the lack of top speed of his car was glaring compared to Marcus Ericsson’s, who always soared on the straight. On the other hand, Daniel Ricciardo had a good battle with his own teammate where the team had to step in to remind the Russian that it was his teammate: « I had a little battle with Daniil. I don’t know if I was too optimistic in trying to overtake him, but we were on different strategies. We will sort it out in the debriefing. »

The second Red Bull driver had to get out of his car as it went up in smoke: « It was a bit of a difficult weekend that didn’t end as we would have liked. I saw a lot of smoke coming out of the back of the car. I’m not sure what happened but the team is investigating. »

The two single-seaters from Milton Keynes were once again victims of problems with their Renault engine, which is unlikely to improve relations between the two partners.
