Bose joins Mercedes
Headphones have become an accessory for many athletes, especially when they don't want to answer interviews. For Mercedes drivers, it will also be a way to showcase a new sponsor for their team, Bose.
Last summer, one might recall the controversy surrounding the wearing of Beats brand headphones by a number of World Cup soccer players, while the official sponsor in this area was Sony. FIFA had decided by banning these accessories inside the stadiums for the duration of the competition.
It is interesting to note that the agreement between Mercedes and Bose follows on the heels of the one announced by Sahara Force India with another brand in this sector, Skullcandy. Nonetheless, Bose managed to obtain much greater visibility than its competitor since its logo will be present on the helmets and suits of both team drivers as well as on those of the team’s mechanics.
However, the agreement only provides for the supply of readily available consumer products, particularly to make the long hours of flights faced by the team’s staff more bearable. Currently, it is not planned for the headphones used by the team’s engineers to be supplied by the brand developed within the famous MIT.
Lewis Hamilton must be thrilled with this new partnership since, in his spare time, he has composed rap songs.
