The auction of Marussia is postponed
Is there still hope for Marussia? In any case, the auction of the team's last elements has been postponed indefinitely.
The last elements to be offered to the highest bidders are, in fact, the most important for the team since they are the elements from the 2014 season. However, the technical regulations have evolved very little for the next season. Theoretically, the buyers could therefore use the same platform as last season during the upcoming season.
Of course, the competition will have progressed and the team might risk falling even further behind the best. Especially since the single-seaters offered for sale come without an engine or gearbox, which have been taken back by Ferrari, to whom the team owes 20 million euros. For potential buyers, an agreement would need to be reached with Maranello to once again have access to this engine block, around which the chassis was built.
But the fact that the team’s administrators have decided to postpone the final installment of the sale, which was scheduled to take place on January 21, is a sign that things are moving behind the scenes. Two weeks ago, John Booth, the team manager, stated that discussions were ongoing. This postponement is a first tangible sign. However, Australia still seems quite far away as many obstacles remain to be overcome before the start of the season…
