Reorganization at the Head of Ferrari
For those who still doubted, it's truly a new era opening at Ferrari as a reorganization of their technical team has just been announced.
The truths of one day are not those of the next. Thus, in 2012, after arriving from McLaren as the director of engineering, Pat Fry had free rein to recruit, especially at Woking.
But after three new seasons without any titles, the new leaders at Maranello decided to turn the page and set up a new technical organization. This led to the departure of Pat Fry as well as Nikola Tombazis, who had been chief engineer since 2006.
This therefore strengthens the influence of the technical director, James Allison. He is confirmed in his position. He will be assisted by Simone Resta, who becomes the new chief engineer, and by Mattia Binotto, responsible for all of Ferrari’s engine activities.
But Maurizio Arrivabene, the new team director, has also decided to revamp the commercial organization of the Scuderia. He has thus decided to create a new commercial department, which he will lead. This decision is logical given that he was previously in charge of sponsorships for Philip Morris, the main sponsor of the Scuderia. He is therefore well-acquainted with all the commercial negotiations surrounding Ferrari. He will be supported by Renato Bisignani, who is moving from press officer to marketing manager.
It remains to be seen whether these changes will result in more success on the track than the last wave…
