Sunday: Uneventful race for Ricciardo and Vettel at Red Bull

Sebastian Vettel (No. 1) – 8th

The world champion experienced an eventful race in the early laps and then a solitary one until the end.

He states: « It was a good start followed by a tough battle with Daniel, but afterward, the speed was nothing remarkable, we had the same issues in qualifying. I was alone for almost the entire race, the beginning was fun, but after that, not much happened. Congratulations to Mercedes for the title, they deserve it. »

Daniel Ricciardo (No. 3) – 7th

The Australian was a bit frustrated for not getting a good start in a race without much excitement: « At the beginning of the race, the tires already had some graining, left over from qualifying, so they didn’t seem very performant and it worsened in the first stint; I saw they were starting to degrade, so we had to pit quite early. Then on Prime tires, they held up well and we had a good pace comparable to Alonso’s but without being able to overtake him. Congratulations to Mercedes – they dominated the entire season, so hats off. »
