Saturday: Caterham F1 makes progress, Kobayashi ahead of Bianchi
On the Caterham side, it seems that the developments are beginning to pay off. Indeed, after a month and a half break, Kamui Kobayashi has the luxury of outqualifying the Marussias. Marcus Ericsson couldn't complete a good lap, but he is counting on data analysis to have a good race.
Kamui Kobayashi (n°10) – 18th and 19th
The Japanese driver is very happy with his result in qualifying. He comments: “I think the upgrades we brought to Spa are working well, which is very good news for the team. I didn’t have much time in the car yesterday, but I think it was a very good return. We worked hard overnight to improve the car and finished ahead of our competitors today. I am very confident for tomorrow—it will be a tough race but we seem strong.”

After experiencing an engine problem in FP3, the Swede was unable to test his qualifying pace on option tires.
He explains: « Unfortunately, we arrived at qualifying somewhat blindly. Everything went well this afternoon, but we had difficulties extracting the maximum from the car. We’ll need to look at the data tonight to see where we can improve compared to Kamui. I’m disappointed with the result, and we’ll fight to come back tomorrow! »
