Friday: At Ferrari, Alonso studious, Räikkönen breaks down

Fernando Alonso was satisfied with the work done today, even though he is still far from his performance goals. On his side, Kimi Räikkönen was comfortable with the tires, facing more difficulty on medium. Unfortunately for him, an unidentified problem prematurely interrupted his race simulation during FP2 of the Hungarian Grand Prix F1.

Friday: At Ferrari, Alonso studious, Räikkönen breaks down

Fernando Alonso (#14) – 4th and 4th

Transitioning from a relatively fast circuit to a slow circuit, Fernando Alonso believes he experienced a more studious Friday than what usually occurs when two Grand Prix races follow each other in a week. He is satisfied with the results obtained from this work even though there is still more work to be done.

He states: « Of course, we still have a lot to do to be as competitive as we would like, but I think we are on the right track. There is less grip here compared to previous years, but it’s the same for everyone and now we have to try to prepare the car as well as possible for qualifying and the race. High temperatures like today are always a challenge for the tires, but the forecast indicates cooler conditions tomorrow and possibly rain on Sunday, so we need to be prepared for any eventuality. »

Kimi Räikkönen (No. 7) – 3rd and 6th

Throughout this Friday, Iceman tested both Pirelli compounds but felt much more comfortable with the handling of his car on soft tires. Indeed, when he switched to medium tires, the behavior of his car noticeably deteriorated.

He explains the end of his free practice 2: « In the second part of the session, I did a race simulation with both compounds: unfortunately when I switched to the medium tires I had an issue with the left rear and had to pit earlier than planned. The telemetry did not show any problems on the car, so I hope the data will show us the way for the next two days. »
