Sochi has already sold half of its tickets
Less than three months before its first Grand Prix, confidence is high among the Russian organizers: they have already sold half of the available tickets, even though sales only began on May 30th.
For the seventh consecutive year, Ferrari organized a major demonstration in the streets of Moscow to showcase both its range of road vehicles and its F1 cars.
Sergey Vorobyev, the new organizer of the Sochi Grand Prix, did not miss the opportunity to provide an update on the event: “We have every reason to smile three months before the start of the Grand Prix. We have already sold half of the available tickets and we have received a great number of requests that we still need to satisfy.”
With over 22,000 sales, the organizers have even decided to increase their capacity to meet popular demand: « We have decided to build an additional grandstand to accommodate the demand from all the Formula 1 fans who expressed their desire to attend the inaugural Russian Grand Prix. »
He also wanted to reassure about the progress of work on the circuit, which is located around the city’s Olympic park: « The construction of the track is almost complete; Charlie Whiting, the F1 race director, recently visited the track and expressed his confidence that everything would be completed on time and to the highest standard. We believe we will have the track finished in August in order to have a test race in September. Everything is going according to plan. »
