Red Bull satisfied with changes at Renault

Thus, during a press briefing, Adrian Newey did not hide that he was very satisfied with the decisions made in Viry-Châtillon, notably that Cyril Abiteboul is taking the helm: « I think it’s a good thing that Cyril is returning because he’s a very strong person. I believe this will strengthen Rob White since Rob will be able to fully concentrate on the technical aspects without having to deal with other areas. He will therefore be able to utilize his strengths without a doubt, and we hope that we will see the results in the future. »

The fact that the technical director of Red Bull emphasizes that his Renault counterpart will now be able to focus more on the technical aspect seems to suggest that he believed Jean-Michel Jalinier, the outgoing CEO of Renault Sport F1, was not sufficiently invested in the day-to-day management of the engine manufacturer and that this distracted Rob White from his main activities.

Rob White also suggests that Red Bull has not been a stranger to the decisions made by Renault’s management and that results must materialize very quickly: « I think we have received very clear messages from Red Bull, which have been expressed quite widely. It’s not hard to see what must be done. We know and we understand, and it’s our job at Viry-Châtillon to deliver results. »
