Saturday: Sauber could hardly do better in qualifying

Adrian Sutil (No. 99) – 16th and 17th

For the German driver, the qualifying went as planned: « The qualifying procedure went well and the team sent me out on track at the right time to avoid being hampered by other drivers. The car’s settings were the best of the entire weekend. During my fast lap, I was pushing to the limit and we managed to get the best out of the car. »

Despite everything, Adrian Sutil acknowledges that it is not enough: « Obviously, 17th is not satisfactory but, at the moment, we cannot manage to go higher. We have to accept it. For tomorrow’s race, we hope to do better. »

Esteban Gutiérrez (no. 21) – 17th and 18th

The Mexican driver experienced a qualification as he expected: « We knew with FP3 that it would be a difficult qualification. At the moment, we are relatively limited, and the importance of the time we lack is not satisfactory. We must continue to work because the other teams are catching up with us. »

One of the main difficulties Esteban Gutiérrez faces is getting the most out of his car while staying on track, especially in turn 8: « Turn 8 is challenging in terms of track limits. On Friday, we didn’t have a penalty for exceeding track limits, but that’s no longer the case today and tomorrow. When you push and enter the corner at a higher speed, there’s a risk of going beyond the track limits. This is another factor we need to consider. However, I’m looking forward to the race because anything can happen. »
