Friday: At Force India, work to be done for Hülkenberg and Pérez
After a good morning, Sahara Force India encountered some difficulties during the afternoon free practice sessions, the night looks set to be a long one for the engineers.
Sergio Pérez (No. 11) – 6th and 13th
For the child from Guadalajara, despite difficulties with the tire operating window, it was a satisfying Friday. He states: « It was a good day of testing, we followed the program as planned and learned a lot from the track. It is difficult and overtaking opportunities are rare. »
The Mexican driver reflects on the direction to take to improve the setup of his F1. He states: “We still have a great margin for improvement, we must exploit the data collected to use the tires in the best way, that’s the main goal. The grid position will be crucial for the weekend and for the race to go under the best circumstances.” Sergio Pérez admits to having some difficulties with the functioning of his car, but the analysis, which promises to be long, could allow him to gain a few tenths and play spoiler.
Nico Hülkenberg (no.27) – 7th and 17th
Nico Hülkenberg finds the track interesting as he explains to us.
The track is fun, we did a few laps this morning and it seemed easier on paper, because in fact, it is difficult and technical in several areas. We had a good session this morning, the program went well. I am happy with the car in this session, the performance was there. However, this afternoon, whether it was with the soft tires (yellow band) or the mediums (red band), I was not as comfortable. This is where we need to analyze the data to ensure improvement, concluded the Rhenan.
With over 255 km covered by the German driver, the day allowed for the collection of important data that will need to be analyzed.
