Saturday: Disappointing McLaren with Button 9th, Magnussen stopped in Q2

Jenson Button (No. 22) – 16th and 9th

In FP3, the English veteran believes he made a step forward. Regarding his qualification, he states: « My fastest time in Q3 was almost enough to be eighth […] Ninth place is probably better in terms of starting grid position because I will be on the clean side. »

In the race, he aims for good tire management: « They easily develop graining, so if you take care of them throughout a stint, it could make a big difference. »

Kevin Magnussen (No. 20) – 12th and 12th

Despite good feelings, the Dane admits that the car lacks speed. He is already focusing on the race: « It will be important to take care of the tires – especially the softer ones, which will struggle in these warmer conditions. I really don’t know what to expect on Sunday. […] All I know is that I’m going to fight like crazy. »
