Friday: Gutiérrez and Sauber not at their best
Esteban Gutiérrez was unable to set up his Sauber as he wanted during the first two practice sessions in Canada. While things are a bit better for Sutil, the performance is still not there.
Esteban Gutiérrez (No. 21) – 18th and 17th
The Mexican experienced a complicated first day but hopes to do better this Saturday: « It was a difficult day. We had some technical issues this morning, which wasn’t ideal because we lost valuable track time. This afternoon, we managed to resolve the problems encountered in the morning, but I’m still not fully happy with the overall behavior of the car. »
Adrian Sutil (No. 99) – 13th and 16th
The German driver was delighted to return to the Gilles Villeneuve circuit in an F1: « This morning was good. It’s really fun to drive on this circuit. Of course, the asphalt has low grip. Additionally, there are many chicanes, but overall, the car was nice to drive. »
Everything wasn’t perfect but it seems promising even if the Sauber is far from the best: « The main challenge of the morning was making the tires work. This afternoon, it was easier. We tried different levels of downforce. We still need to solve some issues with the aero. Apart from that, there were no big surprises. We are where we are, and we have to make the most of it. »
