Force India: Canada is Always Surprising
The Sahara Force India team wants to increase its lead over McLaren Mercedes and perhaps even surpass the reds in the Constructors' World Championship. There is no doubt that the ambitions of the Silverstone team remain realistic, but the upcoming points are particularly important.
The VJM07 is competitive this year and the Indian team envisions reaching the podium in Canada. It arrives at the seventh race of the year without presumptions but with real chances on the Gilles-Villeneuve circuit, where top speed and flawless traction will be the keys to success. But once on the tarmac, even the greatest ambitions can vanish with a stroke of bad luck.
For Nico Hülkenberg, the Canadian Grand Prix remains a very good memory, and he really wants to take advantage of this weekend to show his strength. It will be difficult to secure a podium, but theoretically, this circuit suits the black, green, and orange car: « It’s hard to know how competitive we’ll be in Montreal. Sergio Perez already secured a podium with a commendable third place on this circuit in 2012, despite starting from the back of the grid (15th). The strategy was aggressive, and his flawless driving allowed him to score big points. The Mexican driver knows that it takes using the full width of the track to nail a perfect lap, but beware of the wall. Welcome to Quebec… Paradoxically, the best chance to overtake is the chicane just before it.
The driver wants to showcase his ability to renew his good results and leave the Monaco race behind him: « After a really disappointing race in Monaco, I just want to be back in the car and achieve the best possible result for the team. Points will be the goal. »
The Silverstone team is expecting a fierce battle to maintain its fourth place in the world championship. Development is ongoing, the season progresses, but the team keeps a cool head. Force India has scored points in every race and their consistency could become a strength. The only downside, the rain…
