Saturday: Caterham in last place with Ericsson in the rail
The Malaysian team goes from bad to worse in Monaco. Not only do both of the team's Formula 1 cars finish in the last two places, but Marcus Ericsson also dragged Felipe Massa into the barrier.
Kamui Kobayashi (n°10) – 20th and 21st
In FP3, oversteer and the warming up of the tires hindered the Japanese driver who still lacks pace. He couldn’t set an interesting time in qualifying: « In Q1, we did two runs on super-softs. The first run was okay, but I wanted a bit more front downforce for the second run, and I went back out, but we didn’t have the pace to improve today. »
He hopes for hypothetical rain for tomorrow’s race to disrupt the data a bit. For Sunday, Météo France forecasts a 10% probability of precipitation in the Principality.
Marcus Ericsson (No. 9) – 22nd and 22nd [Will start from the pits after being penalized]
The young Swede lacked traction and grip during free practice on both types of tires. With the same problems during qualifying, he could do no better than the last time. His Q1 ended following an incident with Felipe Massa that he explains: « On my last fast lap, I was behind Massa at turn 5 and he moved off the line, which changed my braking point. I locked the wheels and went into the barrier with him, which was my fault. »
