Thursday: Vergne and Kvyat satisfied at Toro Rosso

Jean-Eric Vergne (No. 25) – 15th and 4th

The Frenchman posted a good time in FP2 but he doesn’t want to get carried away with this good position: « It was a satisfying Friday, and I have good feelings with the car. I like this circuit, and even though I don’t think I will be 4th in qualifying, I’m still happy with what we achieved today. It’s been a nice way to build confidence, and it gives us extra motivation for Q3 and scoring points. We will continue to work hard to be ready for the rest of the weekend. »

Vergne hopes to achieve a good result and knows he will have to push himself to the limit to succeed: « This is a track where the driver can make the difference, so I am determined to stay 100% focused and give my best. »

Daniil Kvyat (No. 26) – 18th and 12th

The Russian discovered this city circuit and really enjoyed it: « I finally loved driving here in Monaco and it was a good day overall, during which I was able to learn the layout well. These were the team’s instructions, who told me to get on track and do as many laps as possible. Of course, the rain made the track wet for most of FP2 so it didn’t help, but at least I tried the circuit in both dry and wet conditions. »

For the moment, with the changing conditions, Kvyat believes that the hierarchy is not clear and that hard work will be necessary: « The results were obviously not very representative because of the tricky conditions this afternoon. We will analyze all the data between tonight and tomorrow to get the most out of the qualifying on Saturday and the race on Sunday. »
