Thursday: Grosjean and Maldonado lack grip and track time for Lotus
The Lotus cars are much less lively than in Barcelona. Romain Grosjean hopes for a sunny weekend to balance his Formula 1 in Monaco.
Romain Grosjean (No. 8) – 13th and 16th
On a green track, the Franco-Swiss driver encountered difficulties in getting the Pirelli tires to work and hopes for better weather to improve his setup. He explains: « It’s certain that the car is running well and we were able to complete a decent program today, even missing a large part of the afternoon session due to the wet track. We hope the weather will be better on Saturday and that we can find a better balance with the car too. »
Pastor Maldonado (No.13) – 14th and 14th
The one said to be under threat in Formula 1 would have liked to drive more but remains quite satisfied despite a shortened second session. He states: At least we were able to do some laps at the end of the session on super-softs, which means we can compare the two compounds. The morning went well, even though the track wasn’t at 100% yet. We have a good amount of data to prepare for Saturday and the qualifying, which is so important here.
