Sahara Force India changes color in Monaco
After its car, Sahara Force India is tackling its racing suit: it completely abandons white to adopt black.
During the off-season, Sahara Force India decided to abandon the white that was dominant on its car because the team realized that this color was heavier than black! The change thus allowed to partially offset the weight gain induced by the change in technical regulations.
However, until now, the drivers’ suits had remained predominantly white. The change effective from the Monaco weekend will allow for consistency between the two elements.
This change of color is not the result of a change of supplier in the field since it is still Alpinestars that is in charge of all the protective clothing for the team, and has been since 2008. The two partners even take the opportunity to announce the extension of their association, as stated by Gabriele Mazzarolo, the president of the brand: « Alpinestars is recognized for having high-performance and innovative products by the best motorsport athletes for over 50 years. The suits we develop for the drivers and the rest of the Sahara Force India team offer technology that enhances performance, which will help Nico and Sergio, both in Monaco and during the rest of the season as we continue to develop our technology. »
However, the team takes advantage of the color change to implement a certain rebalancing among the various sponsors present on it. Thus, it can be noted that the share dedicated to Vijay Mallya’s brand Kingfisher is smaller and lower than before. On the other hand, Smirnoff is prominently positioned both on the front and the back of the suit, maximizing its visibility.
