Sunday: Pérez and Hülkenberg put Force India in the points
While the VJM07 is not very comfortable on the Circuit de Catalunya, both Sahara Force India drivers managed to finish in the points. Sergio Pérez finished 9th, just ahead of Nico Hülkenberg who took the point for 10th place.
Sergio Perez (No. 11) – 9th
The Mexican managed to overtake his teammate towards the end of the race to secure a 9th place, which means new points and satisfies him fully: « It was a difficult afternoon, so leaving with two points is not too bad. I had a very good race pace and my tire degradation was good, so I think we probably could have been a bit more aggressive with the strategy. Maybe if we had stopped earlier, I could have passed other cars because my pace was good, but it was complicated to overtake. »
Nico Hülkenberg (No. 27) – 10th
The German struggled in the race but he is still delighted with the final result: « It was about damage limitation today. We knew from the first practice sessions that this wasn’t the best track for us, so placing both cars in the points is a positive result. »
Hülkenberg believes that this race will serve for the upcoming Grand Prix: « We will use all the data collected over this weekend to improve in the next races where we hope to be a bit more competitive. »
