Friday: Improvements but still work to do for Bianchi and Marussia
Like the other teams, Marussia brought a few innovations to Barcelona. Entrusted to Jules Bianchi, they seem to have proven themselves. Max Chilton, who didn't have the new features, gathered data to compare the two configurations.
Jules Bianchi (No. 17) – 16th and 18th
The Frenchman had the honor of testing the new developments brought by the Russian team in Barcelona and he was satisfied: I think we have shown that we have made a good step forward with our updates today. You never manage to get everything right the first time, so there is still a lot to do to understand how they work and where we can learn. With Max using the previous specification today, we will have interesting information to analyze tonight.
Max Chilton (No. 4) – 19th and 19th
The Briton had to match his performances to those of Bianchi to provide the team with good comparison data: « The main goal of the day was to achieve a good comparison between the two aerodynamic specifications. We made good progress this morning, so I was able to benefit from the developments this afternoon. »
But the day was not easy for Chilton who experienced some issues: We lost a bit of time at the start of FP2 due to an engine problem.
