Red Bull officializes a change at the head of its aerodynamics team

Last October, we announced that Peter Prodromou, the head of aerodynamics at Red Bull, would be leaving his position to return to McLaren. It is now official that he is leaving Milton Keynes where he is immediately replaced by Dan Fallows.

Red Bull officializes a change at the head of its aerodynamics team

Dan Fallows is well-acquainted with the Red Bull team as he was once a team leader in the aerodynamics department. Last year, he decided to leave the team to join… McLaren.

He therefore decides to return home where he will take charge of the entire aerodynamics department while Peter Pedromou has started his non-compete period, which will last several months. This kind of procedure is standard at this level of responsibility to prevent knowledge from rapidly transferring from one team to another.

There should therefore not be a significant input on the design of the 2015 single-seater since this has already started within many teams. It is highly likely that this is already the case at Woking since Eric Boullier’s team will have to incorporate a new engine block: Honda will replace Mercedes, which changes the entire architecture of the single-seater.

Update:

The announcement of Dan Fallows’ return to Red Bull is not at all to McLaren’s liking, and they are considering legal action against Red Bull. For Eric Bouiller, McLaren’s team sporting director: « Dan Fallows has an ongoing contract with McLaren, the matter is now in the hands of our lawyers ».

If the announcement seems strong, the situation could nonetheless be resolved amicably, as McLaren is likely looking to negotiate a shortened non-compete period to welcome Peter Pedromou from Red Bull.
