In difficult conditions, the German driver seemed to have enjoyed himself: « There were visibility issues and it was hard to see the braking distances. It’s not easy to drive these engines with a lot of torque in these conditions, you really have to be gentle on the throttle when you come out of slow corners but I liked rising to this challenge. »
He points out the consistency of the VJM07’s performance: « We are in seventh position on the grid and in the top 10 for the second time in a row, which we can be satisfied with. I think we have shown that we are fast enough to be in the top 10 on both wet and dry tracks and I hope to score good points tomorrow. »
Sergio Pérez (No. 11) – 10th and 14th
The Mexican was unable to get the best out of his tires: « The conditions were very difficult and constantly changing every lap, especially in Q2. I felt better on intermediates and when I switched to wet tires, I struggled to keep them up to temperature, I had great difficulties in putting together a fast lap. »
Moreover, he still has some motor issues to resolve: « I need to solve a rear locking problem which disturbs me during braking in wet conditions. But I still hope for a good race and I will fight to score as many points as possible. »
