Stefan GP is no longer a candidate for 2015
After responding to the FIA's call for tenders, Zoran Stefanovic withdrew his application last February. However, he does not rule out the possibility of future participation.
In December /f1/actualite/16723-officiel-la-fia-lance-un-appel-doffres-pour-une-nouvelle-equipe.html, the FIA launched an <a href="/f1/actualite/16723-officiel-la-fia-lance-un-appel-doffres-pour-une-nouvelle-equipe.html" target="_blank" title="Officiel: La FIA lance un appel d’offres pour une nouvelle équipe">invitation to tender</a> in order to find new teams potentially joining Formula 1 starting from 2015.
Despite sources indicating that Zoran Stefanovic was among the candidates for participation in the 2015 F1 season, the Serbian businessman withdrew his application a month ago.
Questioned on this subject by F1Pulse.com, Stefanovic clarifies: « It is necessary to clarify this situation and we must say that Stefan GP withdrew its application a month ago. We cannot say more due to a confidentiality clause, and there is certainly no reason to talk about a matter still ongoing. »
However, he claims to have good contacts within the Formula 1 community: « Be assured that we have a group of strong and competent people with experience in F1 » and does not rule out future participation: « Stefan GP will talk with drivers in case we get involved in F1 in the future, and until then, we cannot seriously discuss it. »
Stefan GP had already tried to enter F1 in 2010, but the Serbian team had already been rejected at the time. For the ongoing tender, the results of which should have been announced, according to the initial plan, at the end of February, the structure was no longer among the favorites, according to the German site Motorsport-Total. Haas Racing Developments and a Romanian group – including Colin Kolles among its members – are, to date, the other two declared candidates.
