Sunday: Sutil and Gutiérrez’s Saubers, reliable but underperforming
For the Sauber team, reliability was there, but it was insufficient to score points due to a lack of speed for both drivers.
Adrian Sutil (no. 99) – 11th (after Ricciardo’s disqualification)
The German encountered some technical problems: « We had some issues with the power unit during the first stint but it got sorted after the first stop. However, we lost a lot of time that we couldn’t make up. We then switched from a two-stop strategy to a one-stop strategy because of the safety car. »
He then complains about a lack of performance: « Ultimately, we were simply too slow, but we did finish the race, which was our goal. We came close to scoring points, but we really need to improve our race pace. »
Esteban Gutiérrez (#21) – 12th (after Ricciardo’s disqualification)
The Mexican complained, like his teammate, about a lack of performance while emphasizing the fact that the C33 finished the Grand Prix: « With the team, we really need to try to put everything in place because our straight-line speed deficit is quite significant. However, we can be happy that both of us finished the race. It’s a step forward for the team in terms of reliability. »
