Valsecchi replaced by Sorensen at Lotus F1?

Following his GP2 title win in 2012, Davide Valsecchi was unable to secure a full-time seat in F1 and the Italian settled for a reserve driver role with the Lotus F1 team alongside Kimi Räikkönen and Romain Grosjean.

The native of Eupilio saw a great opportunity slip by when Lotus decided to choose Heikki Kovalainen to replace Kimi Räikkönen, and he did not hesitate to give his opinion on the matter. This may have impacted Lotus’s decision not to keep him.

Indeed, according to *Italiaracing*, Valsecchi could be replaced by Marco Sorensen – also managed by Eric Boullier – as a reserve driver next season at Lotus.

The young Dane – who was part of Renault’s development program in 2009 alongside Valsecchi and Charles Pic – raced in Formula Renault 3.5 with the Lotus/Charouz team in 2012. He was also offered by Lotus F1 to participate in tire testing at Paul Ricard in the fall, after which he became a test driver for Lotus.
