Ricciardo on display with Red Bull in Sri Lanka
While some of his colleagues are working on their 2014 single-seaters in the simulator, working for Pirelli, or are simply on vacation or in the midst of preparation, Daniel Ricciardo recently traveled to Sri Lanka for a Red Bull demonstration.
The Red Bull Racing team has a demonstration team that travels around the world over the years, and recently, for the last demonstration of 2013, it went to Sri Lanka for the first F1 laps on this Asian island.
For once it was not David Coulthard behind the wheel but Sebastian Vettel’s future teammate, Daniel Ricciardo. The Australian drove the RB7 through the streets of Galle, a city located in the south of the country, followed by the streets of Colombo, the capital.
He also took the opportunity to indulge in surfing and a tour of the city in a Tuk-tuk. But Ricciardo was there for the show, and in front of 100,000 people, he put on a great spectacle, by day in the rain in Galle and by night at the Colombo Night Race festival.
The former Toro Rosso driver enjoyed the experience and thinks he delighted the fans present as well: « The past few days have been an incredible experience. Driving the demo car always takes you to new and exotic places, but [in Sri Lanka] it was simply sensational. The crowd was great and it really boosts the adrenaline. Hopefully, we gave them a demo to remember – I’m confident we did. »
