Sunday: Ricciardo offers a final point to Toro Rosso
Despite a difficult single-seater to drive, Daniel Ricciardo managed to bring a point to the Toro Rosso team for his last race with the Italian team. Jean-Eric Vergne also struggled, but the Frenchman wasn't able to climb up the rankings despite a good starting position on the grid.
Daniel Ricciardo – 10th:
The conditions were very difficult with occasional showers. In the cockpit, it’s quite difficult to judge how much rain is on the track. You see a few drops on your visor, the guy ahead, and if he doesn’t go off the track, you assume it’s dry. We weren’t very fast from the start and I suffered from graining on the front-right. We adjusted that during the race, but we struggled in terms of pure pace, so I was happy to come away with a point. At midnight tonight, I become an Infiniti Red Bull Racing driver, but for now, I just want to thank everyone at Scuderia Toro Rosso, here on track, and in Faenza and our wind tunnel for these fantastic two years. Thank you guys!
Jean-Eric Vergne – 15th:
« Catastrophic starts for both Toro Rosso today and then I had a very difficult car to drive. I know it’s the same for everyone as it was the first time we were driving here in the dry, but the balance of my car didn’t allow me to attack. It got better in the last two stints, but it was a real challenge. Regarding the incident with Maldonado, I was on the inside at turn 1 and he didn’t leave me space, so we touched and he spun. This season, there have been more bad moments than good for me, but we are all determined to work hard this winter to start next season with a better car. »
