Sunday: Hülkenberg brings new points to Sauber
After starting from 10th on the grid, Nico Hülkenberg managed to cross the checkered flag in 8th position, adding 4 more points to the Sauber F1 team. Esteban Gutiérrez experienced a more challenging race amidst the pack but enjoyed being on track.
Nico Hülkenberg – 8th:
« It was a good race. I got a good start and had some great battles in the opening laps. Then, I was alone for most of the race. The problem today was that I had too much understeer. Because of this, my front tires degraded quite quickly, which cost us time. But finishing 8th is a good result and it places me 10th in the drivers’ championship, which I had never achieved before. It’s a great feeling. »
Esteban Gutiérrez – 12th:
Overall, I take the positives from this race. It was a good one, and I was able to have some great battles on track today. I had a good first lap, overtaking several cars. We struggled a bit with the hard tires in the first stint, but then I managed to regain time with the mediums in the second and third stints. So the way we approached things today was the right one. It was still a challenge to manage the front graining, and I did my best to compensate for it. Overall, I ended the season on a positive note. It has been a season where learning and gaining experience were the main things for me, and I feel I have done a good job as a driver to progress once again in terms of performance.
