Friday: The Marussia drivers prepared for all situations
Marussia has a simple objective for this Brazilian Grand Prix, to maintain its 10th position in the Constructors' Championship. Jules Bianchi and Max Chilton have therefore worked to be ready regardless of the track conditions in qualifying and in the race in Sao Paulo.
Jules Bianchi – 21st and 18th:
The weather defined our sessions today, but we made good progress for the various situations we might have for the rest of the weekend. Once the track started to dry a bit, we had more confidence to push, but on my fast lap on intermediates, I made several mistakes, so there was clearly more to extract. We will have to focus on the balance, so it’s going to be another long night of work with the engineers.
Max Chilton – 21st [Free Practice 2]:
« It’s an important weekend for us, so with Rodolfo who drove my car this morning, I spent the session focusing on the feedback he gave to the engineers with Jules about the track conditions. This afternoon, I was finally able to test the track for the first time, and it’s a beautiful circuit but quite tricky in the rain. We made good progress in difficult conditions and worked on several scenarios for what could be changing weather in the coming days, even though we hope we’ve seen the worst of the rain. I’m happy with my pace overall. »
Rodolfo Gonzalez – 22nd [Free Practice 1]:
« Today was my ninth Free Practice 1 session for what is the closest event to my home race [Venezuela, ed.], so it was nice to have a trouble-free session, even though it was disrupted by rain. We managed to cover 19 laps and most of the planned program, so the information will be useful for the rest of the weekend. I wish the team the best for Sunday. »
