Track time on Friday for Susie Wolff in 2014?

Appointed development driver in April 2012, Susie Wolff gradually gained prominence within the Williams F1 team. Indeed, she had the honor of being the first to take the wheel of the FW35 single-seater at the beginning of the year.

She then had the opportunity to drive during the young driver tests at Silverstone, and her goal is to continue gaining significance and be offered track time in an F1 car. The logical next step is therefore a third driver role with track time on Fridays, in the manner of Valtteri Bottas.

Toto Wolff, minority shareholder of the Williams team and one of the executives of the Mercedes AMG team, told the Kleine Zeitung that his wife wished to race more in 2014: « She will probably stay at Williams if she gets an offer that suits her. But she wants to drive more – during Friday practice or something like that. »

Susie Wolff cannot currently drive in official F1 events due to the lack of a super license, as she chose not to apply for one despite having enough mileage following the Silverstone tests. She told us in Hungary: « I don’t think I’ll be getting a super license by the end of the year but probably next year. » 2014 could therefore be a pivotal year for the thirty-something if she were to drive regularly on Fridays.
