Sunday: Force India was not in the game in Austin

Adrian Sutil had to retire just a few hundred meters after the start in Austin following a contact with Pastor Maldonado. All hopes for the Sahara Force India team were therefore pinned on Paul di Resta, but the VJM06 was too hard on the tires and with two pit stops, the Scotsman finished far from the points.

Sunday: Force India was not in the game in Austin

Paul di Resta – 16th:

I got off to a good start and was in good shape in the first stint. But it quickly became clear that we were struggling in terms of pace and we weren’t doing well with the tires. We pushed to do a one-stop strategy, but the tire wear was higher than expected, and I had no tire performance left with nine laps to go. It was difficult to defend my position, so I had to make a second stop. It’s a shame because we were quite optimistic before the race, and we thought that with warmer weather, it could work in our favor. So it’s disappointing, but we’ll bounce back and aim to finish the season with a better result in Brazil next weekend.

Adrian Sutil – Retirement:

« It seems that I didn’t have any luck this weekend. Until Saturday morning, I seemed competitive and was happy with the car, but all the promises disappeared following our problems in qualifying. In the race, I got a good start, gained a few positions, and was battling in front of Maldonado on the straight. For some reason, he touched my left rear wheel and I immediately lost control of the car and crashed into the barriers. I don’t understand why he was so close to me because the track is wide at that point. I stayed on my line and there was plenty of space on the right and left. So it was an early end and a very disappointing day. »
