Sunday: Red Bull and Vettel 2013 World Champions in India!
Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull were titled today at the end of the Indian Grand Prix. Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull also won today. Undoubtedly the best way for the four-time world champions to celebrate this event. A slight downside though for Mark Webber, who had to retire halfway through the Grand Prix officially due to an alternator problem.
Sebastian Vettel – Winner:
« First, I would like to thank the audience who was amazing today, and it’s really a shame that we won’t be coming back here next year. I’m speechless. I crossed the finish line and I was exhausted. I’ve aged and I already thought about what I was going to say. It’s one of those moments where you’d like to say so many things but you can’t. It was a phenomenal season. I think the team and especially the team spirit that we have is so strong; I already said it on the radio; but it gives me so much energy. It’s a pleasure to get in the car and give everything I have for the men and women who are there all year long. »
« The car was superb today. I didn’t plan on doing donuts at the finish but I did it… My engineer advised me to stay traditional but I said, ‘not this time’… There was such a large crowd in the stand in front of us that I had to thank them. »
I wanted to thank the whole team and the people behind the scenes once again. It was not the easiest of seasons. Even though people say we had an unbeatable car, it was very difficult to get to this point. Personally, I had a tough season… Receiving boos, even though we did nothing wrong, was really painful, but we were able to overcome that and give the best response on the track, and today being accepted only makes me prouder.
« Joining people like Prost, Fangio, and Michael [Schumacher] is incredible. I think it’s one of the best days of my life so far. There are so many people I have to thank, I have always tried to listen and learn, and it’s amazing to fight with some of the best drivers in the world. »
Mark Webber – Abandonment:
« I am rather disappointed with the race we had today, but I couldn’t have done better from my side. The alternator had an issue, so we had to stop a few hundred meters further… It’s annoying because we did a lot of good things this weekend, but I was smiling… I couldn’t have done anything better… »
« Well done to Sebastian for his championship and of course to the team for securing this 4th title. It’s astounding. The team has done a very efficient job and achieving 4 consecutive titles is huge and will serve as a foundation for the next ones! »
