Sunday: A great performance for Marussia, who outpaced Caterham

Max Chilton – 17th:

I’m very happy with my performance in this race. The start was excellent, and with the help of my engineers we did a great job despite a problem that, at one point, made it seem like it would end in a withdrawal. Fortunately, it was resolved and we were able to focus on our strategy which ultimately went very well for me.

Watching the videos, the circumstances of the first turn seem quite clear. I was ahead of van der Garde, and he hit both Pic and myself with his front wing. When I looked in my mirrors, I could see he had damaged his wing. Overall, it hasn’t been an easy weekend, but we had more or less the same pace as Caterham and had what it took today to do a good job. I am obviously very happy to finish every race, but it will be even better if I can still say the same in Brazil! I want to thank the team for all the hard work, which is clearly paying off. Finally, congratulations to Sebastian on a well-deserved fourth title.

Jules Bianchi – 18th:

« I am happy that we finished the race with both cars again, but honestly disappointed with my position. Our two strategies were very close, even though mine was theoretically a bit faster. The car was good, and the strategy would have paid off if we hadn’t had a problem at the first pit stop, which cost me a lot of time. Overall, we can be pleased with the car’s performance and think positively about every opportunity for the team to maintain its position in the championship. My best wishes to Sebastian, it’s a great achievement for him. »
