Sunday: Both Force India in the points at home
Qualified outside the top 10, the Sahara Force India drivers managed to turn things around during the race by both finishing in the points. Adrian Sutil even attempted a one-stop strategy that went against the safety recommendations made by Pirelli before the race, which set a limit of 35 laps for mediums and 15 for softs.
Paul Di Resta – 8th:
« It’s great to score points here in India – for the team’s home Grand Prix and an important race for us. We chose an aggressive strategy by stopping at the end of the first lap to switch from soft to medium tires – which had always been the plan. Then, we split the race in two and I pitted again for my second set of mediums on lap 30. Another positive point is that we have significantly improved the car over the past few weeks and I feel much more comfortable, so I believe we can be optimistic about our chances of achieving a similar performance in Abu Dhabi next week. »
Adrian Sutil – 9th:
« The objective was to score points, so the 8th and 9th places are a great result for us today. My one-stop strategy was a risky approach, and it was only during the race that we decided to implement it. The mediums, with which I started, performed really well and I realized that making just one stop was possible. We thought that the softs would only last about 5 laps, so I made sure to conserve them, and I eventually managed to do almost 20 laps with them. After several difficult races recently, we showed everyone what we are capable of with a lot of teamwork today. »
