Friday: The Williams seem in their place in India
The Williams drivers performed quite well this Friday in India, but they remain grounded and believe that the performance of the FW35 should be similar to what was seen in recent races. Pastor Maldonado had to cut short his race simulation due to a problem with one of his wheels.
Valtteri Bottas – 10th and 13th:
« We completed the scheduled program today during the sessions this morning and this afternoon here in India. We tried a lot of different things in terms of aero and mechanical settings, so we need to validate the data tonight and see what worked best. The driving on my end seemed good, and I managed to get used to this layout quite quickly. It’s a beautiful circuit, very fun to drive, so I enjoyed my day. We’ll see where we stand compared to the others tomorrow and will do our best. »
Pastor Maldonado – 14th and 16th:
« We had a good first session this morning, completing all the planned laps. Free practice 2 was good as well because we were working on the car to improve the balance and speed. We don’t expect things to be different from the last races. During the race simulation, the front-right wheel was wobbly, so I stopped the car. The team will now analyze this issue. »
