Saturday: Lack of grip prevents the Williams from reaching Q2
A very difficult weekend for both Williams: the lack of grip means that Valtteri Bottas and Pastor Maldonado could do no better than 17th and 18th.
Valtteri Bottas – 18th and 17th
I had a good lap but unfortunately we didn’t have the pace to reach Q2 because the car lacked grip when I was pushing on my last stint. Obviously, the team is disappointed with this result, and I am fully focused on working hard with them to improve the car’s performance for tomorrow’s race in order to gain some positions.
Pastor Maldonado – 12th and 18th
« I struggled with traffic in my last sector, which cost me time on my last lap, but we just didn’t have the speed to get into Q2 today, and I was struggling to find grip in the tires. Our pace on the long runs seems better this weekend. So we can focus on this positive aspect for the race, and I’ll fight tomorrow to improve our position. »
